Govt mulling to promote students to next class sans final exams

The government is mulling for promoting all students to next class respectively without any final examination as educational institutions remain closed due to coronavirus pandemic.

However, when the decision will be implemented depends on the opinion of experts.

The Directorate of Primary Education and the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education will take necessary steps over promoting students to next class at every level from primary to college as soon as the experts give their opinion.

According academic calendar of primary school, the first terminal examination is scheduled to be held from April 15 to April 23 while the second terminal from August 9 to August 20 and final examination from December 2 to December 15.

The final examination for the class-1 is scheduled to be held from November 19 to November 30. But first term exam of primary was not held as all educational institutes remain closed due to coronavirus outbreak since Mary 18. Besides, SSC examination has also postponed for the same reason.

When asked, Director General (DG) of Directorate of Primary Education M Fasiullah said based on the current month of July, a decision will be taken whether first term exam to be hold or not. We will decide based on advices from experts on whether the students will be promoted to next class through written or oral examination after analyzing what has been taught them so far.

The education administration does not consider it reasonable to told examinations at school level depending on online classes even though class is running on Sangsad TV since the educational institutions declared shut down.
