Govt sets export target of $54 billion

Senior Correspondent: The government has set $54 billion as the export target for fiscal year 2019-20.

Mofizul Islam, secretary, Ministry of commerce made the disclosure while addressing reporters after a meeting at the secretariat on Wednesday.

He said, targeting $ 45.50 billion through exporting goods and $8.50 billion through exporting services, the export target was fixed.

“A total of $ 46.87 billion were earned in last year. We had earned about three more billion dollar than the target. We are expecting that we will achieve the target this year also,” he said.

Tapan Kanti Ghosh, additional secretary to the commerce ministry, Vice Chairman of the Export Development Bureau and others attended the function.
