Govt to import rice: Food Minister

Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder has said that the government will import rice through reducing duty in a bid to keep the market stable.

The minister said this at his official residence on Minto Road in the capital on Tuesday.

The food minister said “We have achieved a bumper rice production this year. So, there is no reason to be rice market unstable. Some are trying to increase the price of rice. The government is in a strict position in this regard. Besides, we have decided to import rice through reducing duty.
