‘Govt’s decision to shut jute mills suicidal’

Islami Sramik Andolan president Mohammad Ashraf Ali Akon has urged the government to withdraw its decision to shut jute mills.
“The decision to shut down jute mills during this coronavirus pandemic will be suicidal,” he said while addressing a human chain organized in front of the National Press Club in the capital on Sunday (July 5).
Ashraf Ali said, “Investment is needed to modernize the jute mills for the sake of protecting jute industry.”
He claimed that the demand of environment friendly jute industry has increased during this pandemic period.
