HC orders judicial probe into kidney damage by police torture

The High Court (HC) ordered conducting a judicial investigation into the damage of two kidneys of a college student named Imran Hossain due to police torture in Jashore.
The court ordered the Jashore District and Sessions Judge to assign a judicial magistrate in order to conduct the investigation.
The court also asked to submit the investigation report within next 60 working days.
A virtual HC bench of Justice JBM Hasan passed the order on Monday (July 6).
Earlier on July 18, police tortured ruthlessly Imran Hossain, son of Nesar Ali of Shahbajpur village of Jashore Sadar upazila which left two kidneys of Imran damaged.
A writ petition was filed with the High Court in this connection. The writ petition sought judicial investigation into the incident.
Supreme Court lawyers Barrister Humayun Kabir Pallab and Barrister Mohammad Kawsar filed the writ petition with the High Court following a public interest litigation.
