Harun to die for killing Samia after rape

A tribunal in Dhaka sentenced Harun-or-Rashid, the lone accused in a case filed over killing Samia Afrin Saima after rape, to death.

Judge Kazi Abdul Hannan of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-1 in Dhaka delivered the verdict on Monday (March 9).

Samia’s father Abdus Salam filed a case in this connection with Wari Police Station under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act on July 6 last year. Harun was arrested in the case from Dabardanga of Cumilla the following day.

Later, the court sent Harun to jail after he had given confessional statement to the incident.

On October 30, the investigation officer of the case submitted charge sheet against Harun to the court. After framing charges against Harun, the court ordered to initiate trial proceedings of the case.
