Hearing on Khaleda’s 11 cases deferred

Staff Correspondent: A Dhaka court has deferred till September 2 the hearing of 11 cases filed with various police stations against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on various charges.

Judge KM Imrul Kayes of Dhaka Metropolitan & Sessions Judge Court set the date on Wednesday at the makeshift court installed in newly-built building at Keraniganj central jail.

Khaleda Zia’s lawyers pleaded for time extension for hearing of the cases saying the High Court stayed most of the cases.

Of the cases, eight were filed with Darussalam Police Station over arson charges in 2015, two with Jatrabari Police Station on charge of making seditious comments about the freedom fighters and the martyrs of the Liberation War of 1971 and another one with Shahbagh Police Station.
