Home Boss warns actions against rumour

Staff Correspondent: Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has warned against rumour spreading on social media.

He said, “Those involved in spreading rumour on social media must face actions. They will not be spared. Don’t think police weak. They are not passing time in leisure.”

The Minister came up with the warning in a press briefing held on current affairs in the Secretariat on Tuesday noon.

Kamal said, “Innocent people are being killed through spreading rumour of child kidnapping. Those are involved in the incident must face punishment.”

In reply to query, the Minister said, “This is nothing, but a vested quarter is spreading the rumour to confused countrymen and spread panic to make the country unstable.”

He said, “Nine cases were filed while 15 general diaries (GDs) lodged across the country since the rumour. A total of 81 were arrested over the incidents of mass beating which claimed six lives. Besides, 15 were also sustained injuries in the incidents.”
