India reports record 45720 new Covid-19 cases, 1129 deaths

India reported a record jump of 45,720 in coronavirus or Covid-19 infections in past 24 hours, taking its total number of cases to 12,38,635, the health ministry said on Thursday (July 23).

India also reported 1,129 new deaths over the same period, taking the death toll to 29,861. A total of 7,82,607 people have recovered so far in the country.

India has the third-highest number of cases after the United States and Brazil.

A total of 3,50,823 samples were tested yesterday, says the Indian Council of Medical Research.
