India wants speedy repatriation of Rohingyas

India wants speedy and sustainable repatriation of Rohingyas to their place of origin in Myanmar's Rakhine State to resolve the crisis, said Indian external affairs minister S Jaishankar.

He said India feels necessary of speedy return of Rohingyas as a neighbouring country of Bangladesh and Myanmar.

S Jaishankar wrote this in a letter to his Bangladesh counterpart Dr A K Abdul Momen.

A press statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs revealed this on Wednesday.

In his letter, the Indian Foreign Minister also lauded the humanity shown by Bangladesh in sheltering Rohingya people displaced from Rakhine, Myanmar.

He believes that the quick, safe and sustainable repatriation of Rohingyas in Bangladesh to Myanmar bestowed to everyone’s welfare.

S Jaishankar also reiterated his country’s commitment to stand by Bangladesh and its people in fighting coronavirus pandemic.

Besides, he wrote in the letter that the mutual partnership for the development of two countries will continue.
