Insurance to be made mandatory for expats

The government is going to enforce mandatory insurance coverage for Bangladeshis working abroad.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will officially inaugurate the insurance process through a program at Bangabandhu Conference Center in the capital on December 19.
A deal between Wage Earners’ Welfare Board (WEWB) under the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Foreign Employment and Jiban Bima Corporation (JBC) is signed on Wednesday afternoon.
Director-General (DG) of Wage Earners Welfare Board (WEWB) Gazi Mohammad Julhas and Managing Director of Jiban Bima Corporation Mohammad Mahfuzul Haque signed the deal on behalf of their farms respectively.
State Minister for Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Imran Ahmed, finance division senior secretary Md Asadul Islam, Jiban Bima Corporation Chairman Shelina Afroz and others attended the function.
