DHAKA, Sept 7: Jamuna Future Park shopping mall and entertainment hub was made open to public on Friday.

Home Minister Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir cut a cake to mark the gala opening ceremony at the city`s Badda in the morning.

The minister congratulated Jamuna Group Chairman Nurul Islam Babul and his wife Salma Islam MP for his initiative in establishing Jamuna Future Park.

Meanwhile, MK Alamgir hoped the establishment would take the reputation of Bangladesh to new heights in the world.

MK Alamgir said the establishment will add more employment opportunity inside the country as well as contribute to the revenue for government.

He also called upon the people to come up with such initiatives.

Prime Minister’s Advisor HT Imam, BNP’s Vice Chairman Shamser Mobin Chowdhury, Jatiya Party’s General Secretary Ruhul Amin Howlader and Presidium Member Kaji Zafar Ahmed, and film star Razzak were present in the ceremony among the others.

The fifth-level of the park, hosts around 4500 restaurants and food shops including those of globally renowned brands.  

The complex is constructed on 33 acres of land in Kuril, Baridhara, situated on the Pragati Sharani. It is surrounded by commercial businesses including several multinational companies. Shahjalal International Airport is just a few minutes drive, and major embassies and foreign offices are within walking distance.

The centrally air-conditioned shopping complex has nine floors, equipped with its own 45 MW powerplant and highspeed WiFi internet. The lower basement floor is reserved for car parking. The middle basement is reserved for car parking and a portion for a supermarket and a hypermarket.

Level 1 is the base floor for all atria, facilities for live entertainment, musical and fashion shows, etc. From the ground floor to the fifth floor, there are several categories of local and international brand shops, non-branded shops, bank space, online booths and food courts.

The fifth floor has space for a children`s theme park, a gymnasium and a health club, two separate swimming pools for men and women, spacious exhibition halls, banquet halls, international standard cineplex with seven individual halls, 22-lane bowling alley with karaoke facilities, and a musical and entertainment floor. JFP is also going to have Dhaka`s second Ice skating rink.

The shopping mall is built to withstand 7.5 magnitude earthquake.

It can be accessed by Kuril Interchange, which opened on August 2013, from both directions of the Airport Road.

According to the park’s website, the fifth floor has four departments – sports and healthcare, entertainment, food court and children’s playing zone. The Cineplex has seven cinema halls.

There are plans to construct a five-star hotel, an exclusive hospital and an office building on the approximately 150,000 square metre park, the website says.
