England fast bowler Jofra Archer will not be part of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 as he has been ruled out of competition action for 3 months due to a stress fracture on his right elbow.
Jofra Archer's injury will be a massive blow to Rajasthan Royals who retained the England pacer after he impressed in his 1st 2 seasons with the former champions. Archer made his IPL debut with Rajasthan in 2018 and shone immediately with 15 wickets. In the 2019 edition, Archer was once again among the highest wicket-takers in the league with 11 wickets from as many matches.
Jofra Archer will also miss England's upcoming tour of Sri Lanka where they will play 2 Tests between March 19 and 31.
Archer played the 1st Test of a 4-match series in South Africa earlier this year but was rested for the final 3 Tests due "soreness in his elbow".
Acher sustained the troublesome elbow injury following England's 1st Test after which the visitors went on win the series 3-1.
While he was rested for the ongoing 3-match ODI series, Archer was also not picked for the T20 series which will be played from February 12.
"Archer underwent further scans on his injured right elbow yesterday in the UK which confirmed a low grade stress fracture," the England and Wales Cricket Board said in a statement.
"He will now commence an injury rehabilitation programme with the ECB medical team with a view to be ready for the international summer campaign starting in June against the West Indies in a three-match Test series."_Agencies.
