LGD issues letter to DSCC to lock down Wari

The Local Government Division (LGD) has issued a letter to Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) to implement lockdown at some areas in Wari in the capital to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

The letter was sent to the chief executive officer of DSCC on Monday afternoon.

Shah Md Imdadul Haque, chief executive officer (CEO) of DSCC, acknowledged over receiving the letter.

According to the letter, the central technical committee of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) took decision in a meeting on June 22 to lock down Wari. The letter asked to implement lockdown at Tipu Sultan Road, Jahangir Road, from Joykali temple to Baldha Garden Outer Road, Lalmini Road, Hore Road, Ware Road, Rankin Road and Nawab Inner Road under ward 41 of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC).

According to sources, DSCC Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh is likely to call a meeting on Tuesday to take final decision to implement lockdown at Wari.

Earlier, Mayor Fazle Noor Taposh said DSCC is ready to implement lockdown. The lockdown will be implemented within 48 to 72 hours once zone-wise mapping is received.
