Legal notice seeks compensation for Regent hospital fraud victims

A legal notice has been served to pay Tk 10 lakh as compensation to each family of those who became victims of fraudulence during coronavirus tests in Regent hospital and receiving treatment from the hospital.

In the notice, it has been asked to publish a list of all legal and licensed hospitals, diagnostic centres in the country.

Besides, it has been asked to form health monitoring committee at each Thana, the notice said.

On behalf of Supreme Court lawyer Ishrat Hasan, Barrister Abdul Halim sent the notice to health secretary, home affairs secretary, directorate general of health services and managing director of Regent hospital on Sunday (July 19).

In the notice, Barrister Abdul Halim said, “List of all legal and licensed hospitals in the country will have to be published and an announcement to pay compensation to each family of Regent hospital fraud victims should be made within 48 hours. Otherwise, we will file a writ petition with the High Court.”
