Faridpur Correspondent: Rushema Imam, a member of parliament from a reserved seat (no.334) has died.
She breathed her last at 11.35pm on Tuesday at Faridpur Heart Foundation Hospital. She was 85 years old.
Rushema was the wife of Imamuddin Ahmad, former president of Faridpur district unit of the Awami League, former lawmaker and a close aide to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
She started her career with Ishan Memorial High School in Faridpur.
She was nominated as an Awami League MP from Faridpur on Feb 8 from a seat reserved for women.
To mourn her death, she left behind two sons-Saiful Ahad Selim and Asad Uddin Ahmed, daughter Urmi Imam and a host of relatives.
She will be buried at Kamalapur Family Graveyard after namaz-e-janaza at Faridpur Police Lines ground after Asr prayer on Wednesday.
