Staff Correspondent: Attorney General Mahbube Alam has said that the war crimes convict Delwar Hossain Sayedee will now stay in a general cell instead of condemned cell.
Mahbube Alam said this to journalists at his office on Wednesday after the Appellate Division of Supreme Court (SC) announced the Sayedee’s appeal petition verdict.
“I fell uneasy at now as we did not get expected results”, he said.
“There is no scope for the state to file a review petition against the verdict”, he also said.
Earlier, a five-member bench headed by Chief Justice Md Muzammel Hossain gave Delwar Hossain Sayedee imprisonment till death revising the verdict of the International Crimes Tribunal-1 that gave death penalty in war crimes cases.
