Staff Correspondent: BNP standing committee member Mahbubur Rahman has raised a question over the monthly salary of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina`s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy.
Mahbubur Rahman claimed, “How worthy advice Joy gives the government, for which it has to pay TK 1 crore and 60 lakh to him?”
The BNP leader raised the question while speaking at a discussion titled ‘Department of Justice, Democracy and Today`s Context’ organized by Jatiyatabadi Nagorik Dal at the National Press Club’s conference lounge on Friday.
On the sidelines of his derogatory remarks on Hajj and Tablighi Jamaat in New York, Abdul Latif Siddique had said Sajeeb Wazed Joy, also the son of Prime Minister, receives a total of TK 1 crore and 60 lakh monthly for his job as the ICT advisor of PM.
“He approves the salary himself,” Latif Siddique disclosed.
In line with Latif Siddique’s disclosure, Mahbubur Rahman alleged, “There are no examples in the world where the government spends this huge amount of money as the salary of a PM advisor.”
How does Joy perform his duties as the ICT advisor of PM, staying abroad?, Mahbubur Rahman also alleged.
