Malaysia revokes visa for Bangladeshi Rayhan

The Malaysian immigration department has revoked visa for Md Rayhan Kabir, a young Bangladeshi migrant worker who was interviewed by Al Jazeera in a documentary on mistreatment of foreign workers in the South East Asian country.

Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador, Inspector-General of Police (IGP) in Malaysia, confirmed the news to local media.

He said, ‘The work permit of the 25-year-old Bangladeshi man has been revoked by the Immigration Department. Therefore, he needs to surrender himself before being deported back to his home country.’

Al Jazeera showed the investigative documentary titled ‘Locked Up in Malaysia’s Lockdown’ on July 3 exposing discrimination against migrant workers during the COVID-19 pandemic through the movement control order.
