Man accused in 16 cases killed in ‘gunfight’

A man accused in over 16 cases has been killed in an alleged shootout with police at Khilgaon in the city early Friday.

The deceased was identified as Billal alias ChapatiBillal, 29.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of KhilgaonMoshiurRahman confirmed this.

The OC said acting on a tip off, a team of police conducted a drive in SheikherJaiga area to arrest Billal and his associates. Sensing the presence of law enforcers, criminals opened fireon the law enforcers, forcing the policemen to fire back in self defence, triggering a gunfight.Billal died on the spot and others managed to flee from the spot.

The dead body was sent to Dhaka Medical College for autopsy.
