Man held with 16 gold bars in Dhaka airport

Customs Intelligence arrested a passenger along with 16 gold bars—weighing about 1.850 kilograms at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the city.

Dhaka Customs Deputy Commissioner Md. Sharif confirmed the matter to risingbd on Saturday (July 18).

Customs House said, acting on secret information, the CIID team challenged the the passenger when he was about to leave the airport's green channel. Primarily, he denied carrying any gold items. Later, the gold bars were recovered from four cosmetics box searching his bag.

The estimated market price of the seized gold is about Tk 92 lakh.
