Market comes under attack

Senior Correspondent: Some miscreants have allegedly carried out an attack on a market situated at the airport roundabout area in Dhaka to take control of it.

Businesspeople in the market alleged that the miscreants shot several rounds of bullets.

Additional police have been deployed in the area following the incident that took place on Sunday morning.

Sources said a group of miscreants numbering 20 to 25 carried out an attack on Babus Salam waqf (endowed) market in the roundabout area with sharp weapons while businesspeople were preparing to open their shops.

The arms-wielding goons beat up the businesspeople and tried to occupy the market when the businesspeople tried to prevent them.

At one stage of the incident, the miscreants took control of shop no. 19 of the market.

Officer-in-charge (OC) Noor-e Azam Mia of Biman Bandar Police Station told risingbd that: “Police have been sent there soon after hearing the news. Details can be said after conducting an investigation in this regard.”
