Staff Correspondent: Mid-day meals will be distributed among the students of all government primary school across the country, according to the draft of ‘National School meal policy 2019’.
The cabinet approved the draft policy during its meeting on Monday at the secretariat with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
Cabinet secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam briefed reporters after the meeting.
He said, the school meal program is running in 15,080 schools of 104 upazilas in the country now. Of them, the program is going on under government finance in 93 upazilas. High-protein biscuits are provided in all schools. Besides, school meal projects are launched in three upazilas under the World Food Program (WFP).
Mohammad Shafiul Alam also said, Remote areas including char, haor, coastal areas, hilly areas, tea gardens will get priority in the school meal projects.
