Minni denied HC bail in Rifat murder case

Staff Correspondent: The High Court (HC) has denied to grant bail to Ayesha Siddika Minni in the case filed over her husband Rifat Sharif murder.

The court said, “We cannot grant bail to Minni without scrutinizing the confessional statement she gave to the Bargnu court. We can only issue a rule asking the government to explain why Minni should not be granted bail in the case, but it will not grant her bail at this stage of the case. If you do not want rule, you can take back the petition.”

Then, Minni’s lawyer sought the petition return and the court accepted it.

Justice Sheikh Md Zakir Hossain and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman came up with the order after hearing on Thursday.

Advocate ZI Khan Panna and Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon moved for Minni in the court while Additional Attorney General Momtaz Uddin Fakir represented the state.

Minni’s husband Rifat Sharif was hacked to death in front of Barguna Government College at broad day light on June 26.
