Mita Noor commits suicide

DHAKA, July 1: Television actress and former model Mita Noor had committed suicide, the preliminary report of postmortem has revealed.
Mohammad Sohel Mahmud, assistant professor of the Department of Forensic Medicine of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), told reporters on Monday afternoon that they think actress Mita Noor had committed suicide.
He said they found all the suicide-related symptoms on Mita Noor`s body. Besides, there were no marks of injury inside or outside the body.
He further said they kept the samples of kidney, liver and abdomen of Mita Noor for viscera examination to determine whether anything else was involved in the death of the actress.
It may be mentioned that Mita Noor was found dead at her Gulshan residence in the capital Monday morning.
Sub-inspector of Gulshan police station, Sabbir Rahman, told www.risingbd.com that police reached the spot at 5:30am and found the actress’s body hanging from the ceiling fan.
According to police, after Mita’s family discovered her body hanging from the ceiling in the dining space, her husband, Shah Noor Rahman, called in police to bring down the body.
But Mita’s father stopped the police officers, and called in the CID crime scene team who finally lowered the body at around 11am.
The body was then taken to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Mita’s father Fazlur Rahman said she was having trouble with her husband. “They had a lack of understanding and Shah Noor used to torture her.”
On Saturday evening, Rafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of the Gulshan police station, met with Mita and her husband at the former’s office at Niketan to resolve their disputes, a police source said.
A friend of Mita, wishing to remain anonymous, told www.risingbd.com that her businessman husband used to torture her both “physically” and “mentally,” for being involved in the entertainment world.
Mita’s driver Sabuj said, she had been “mentally disturbed” from Saturday and behaved badly with everyone. Earlier in the day, she went to visit her parents at Khilgaon and around afternoon, went to her office at Niketan.
That night, she had dinner with her husband and two sons, Priyo and Tauz, at a restaurant and returned home around 10pm.
It was the last time the actress was seen going out.
Mita Noor started her career in 1989 with the weekly BTV drama series “Sagar Secha Shadh”. Late actor Sadrul Pasha worked as the actor in the drama serial. She rose to prominence in 1992 doing a TV commercial for Olympic batteries directed by Afzal Hossain. In 2011, she directed the drama “Chounggali”.
Actress Mita Noor was born at Daudkandi in Comilla on January 1, 1971. She married to businessman Shahanoor Rahman Rana in 1988. Their two sons--Shehzad Noor Taposh Priya and Sadman Noor Tahmeed Prithivi. Priya reads at O-Level in Aga Khan School, while Prithivi at Class VI in Sea Bridge International School.
Mita`s husband Rana is the CEO of Lian Fashion and Image Design and Buying House.
