Moyur-2 owner arrested

Mosaddek  Swad, owner of Moyur-2 launch, has been arrested in a case filed in connection with a launch capsize in the Buriganga River on June 29 that left 34 people dead.

Members of River Police arrested around 3.00am on Thursday from Sobhanbagh area under Kalabagan Thana in the city.

Khondoker Faridul Islam, superintendent of River Police in Dhaka, confirmed the news.

On July 7, River Police arrested Moyur-2 supervisor Abdus Salam.

Morning Bird, a small launch travelling to Dhaka from Munshiganj capsized within seconds in the river with around 50 passengers on board in Farashganj area after being hit by Moyur-2.
