Mufti Amini passes away

DHAKA: Islami Oikya Jote Chairman Mufti Fazlul Huq Amini died at city’s Ibn Sina Hospital early Wednesday. He was 69.
Confirming the matter, Islami Oikya Jote publication secretary Moulana Wasel said, “Amini experienced chest pain while holding a meeting with the leaders and activists of the party.”
“He was admitted to Ibn Sina Hospital as his condition deteriorated at about 11:15pm”, he added.
He breathed his last at about 12:15am while undergoing treatment.
Amini left behind his wife, two sons and four daughters to mourn his death.
Mufti Amini was an Islamist politician and Hanafi Islamic Scholar from Bangladesh. He served as a MP from 2002 to 2007.
He also held a number of positions on the boards of Qaumi Madrasahs. Mufti Amini was the chairman of on part of Islami Oikya Jote and also a leader of Tehreek-e-Khatme Nabuwwat. He was former component of the BNP-led four-party alliance.
He was born in 1943.
