Murder accused killed in Mymensingh ‘gunfight’

Staff Correspondent, Mymensingh:  A man accused in a murder case has been killed in a reported gunfight with DB police in the district.

The gunfight took place around 1.30am on Thursday in Chakua area of Pagla Thana.

The deceased Ekhlas Uddin was the main accused in the murder of auto-rickshaw driver Sujon.

He was the son of Nurul Islam at Chakua village of Pagla Thana.

According to police, a team of DB police conducted a drive in the area. As soon as police reached the area, Ekhlas and his associates fired gunshots, forcing them to back fire that triggered a gunfight.

Ekhlas sustained bullet injury. Later, he was taken to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
