Muslin Cotton Mills reopens today

GAZIPUR, Aug 3: Muslin Cotton Mills, the historic and largest cotton mill in Asia, is going to reopen today (Saturday) after 24 years of its closure.
State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroz Chumki disclosed this while speaking at a special annual general meeting and iftar mahif of Gazipur Union of Journalists (GUJ) on Friday.
Presided over GUJ President Ataur Rahman the programme was addressed, among others, by Advocate AKM Mozammel Haque, MP, Zahid Ahsan Russel, MP, former lawmaker and district Muktijoddha Sangsad Commander Kazi Mozammel Haque.
Muslin Cotton Mills was established on 100 acres of land in 1952 at Kaliganj in the district. The historic cotton mill was closed on July 4 in 1990.
