Nasim now corona negative, decision to observe more 72 hrs

Members of newly formed medical board will closely observe for more 72 hours the overall health condition of former Health Minister Mohammed Nasim, who is currently in a deep coma at Bangladesh Specialized Hospital in Dhaka, to take decision on his treatment.

Nasim who earlier tested positive for Covid-19 now tested negative amid his deteriorating health condition.

Dr Al Imran Chowdhury, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bangladesh Specialized Hospital, said, "The medical team will closely observe the physical condition of the former health minister for more 72 hours. CT scan was not performed on him as he was in critical condition. Doing so at this moment is dangerous."

New medical team was formed for Nasim's treatment on Monday (June 8). Prior to this, a 13-member medical team, consisting of neurologist, neurosurgery specialist, nephrologist, endocrinologist, internal medicine specialist, was formed for Nasim's treatment.

Around 10:45 pm on Monday, Vice Chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Kanak Kanti Barua, also the member of the new medical board, told risingbd that, "Mohammed Nasim is in critical condition. His condition was neither improved nor deteriorated.''

On June 1, Nasim was admitted to Bangladesh Specialised Hospital with Covid-19 symptoms, including fever and cold.

He later tested positive for Covid-19 and was rushed into surgery after suffering a brain haemorrhage. Nasim underwent brain surgery at the hospital on Saturday.
