National Iron & Steel Limited Managing Director Harun-or-Rashid has secured six months' interim bail from the High Court at Tk30 crore bond in two cases filed for embezzling Tk59 crore.
The High Court bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice KM Hafizul Alam passed the order on Sunday.
Advocate AKM Fazlul Haque moved for Anti-Corruption Comission (ACC) while Deputy attorney general AKM Amin Uddin Manik and Assistant attorney general Helena Begum Chayna stood for the state.
“The court granted the bail at Tk30 crore bond. The bail will be cancelled if he failed to pay the amount,” Deputy attorney general AKM Amin Uddin Manik said.
According to the case statement, opening a LC in name of an accommodation bill, the accused took Tk59crore from Al-Arafa Islami Bank. Later, on March 5, last year, ACC deputy director Jalal Uddin filed two cases with Double Mooring police station.
