Never said that I was forced into prostitution: Shweta

Shweta Basu Prasad

Risingbd Desk: Child artiste -turned-commercial actress Shweta Basu Prasad was mired in a controversy earlier this year when she was caught in an alleged prostitution racket.

The actress was sent to a rescue home, where she spent two months. Shweta is now back home in Mumbai with her parents and reportedly told a journalist that she never said that she was forced into prostitution.

In an interview, Shweta has reportedly said that a journalist made up a statement that was later attributed to her. She added that she was not allowed to even speak to her parents, so it was impossible that she told the media that she was forced to turn to prostitution due to a financial crisis.

Shweta said that at the time of the raid, she was in Hyderabad to attend an awards function and was staying in that hotel after she missed her flight back home. She did not deny that there was a raid, but refused to reveal anything more since it is a legal case. Shweta just said that she is the victim in the whole situation.

Shweta was arrested around the same time that Sandalwood actress Nayana Krishna was held in a honeytrap case.
