No bus services in four districts

Transport workers have enforced an indefinite strike from Monday morning in four districts in protest against the implementation of the Road Transportation Act-2018 and demanding its reformation.

Transport workers of Khulna, Satkhira, Meherpur and Rajshahi stopped all bus services from the morning. As a result, passengers of the remote areas are facing untold sufferings.

Transport workers leaders said, they want some amendments to the new law, including granting bail in the accident-related cases.  “We will continue this strike until our demands are met”, they said.

President of the Khulna Motor Sramik Union Md. Nurul Islam Bebi told to risingbd, “The transport workers have halted bus service on the routes demanding reformation in the newly-enacted Road Transportation Act.  Some provisions of the act should be amended on emergency basis. The government has not taken any step in this regard.”
