No plan for country shutdown at once: Quader

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said there is no plan to shut down the country at this moment to prevent the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).

“We may take up a decision to shut down some areas or impose restrictions on the movement of buses in order to contain the spread of the virus if necessary,” he said while briefing reporters on contemporary issues at his secretariat office around 11:00am on Wednesday (March 18).

Urging all irrespective of political parties and ideologies to come forward to prevent the spread of the virus, Quader, also the Awami League general secretary, said, “The coronavirus has already turned into a global pandemic. Our government has taken all measures to combat the situation.”
