Senior Correspondent: Mass beating has alarmingly been increased over suspicion of child-lifting across the country.

However, police have warned countrymen not to get involved in any criminal offense, paying heed to any rumour.

AIG (media) of Police Headquarters Sohel Rana told risingbd that area-based patrolling of police station has been strengthened. Alongside, surveillance of plain-clothe law enforcers of intelligence agencies has been increased. Even that, people have to come forward. Call nearest police station, if someone looks suspect. Police’s 999 number is open for 24 hours. If you find someone suspected, call on the number and inform the matter. Police will reach the spot immediately. We again requested people not to take law in own hand.

Police also requested people to avoid visiting new areas without any emergency. If it is necessary to go somewhere, contact the concern persons and inform them about your visit. Don’t show any strange behavior in a new place so that people suspect you.”

“Contact nearest police station or public representative immediately, if someone falls in such situation,” police suggest.

Mentionable, rumour went viral across the country that heads need for Padma Bridge construction. As part of the rumour, a man was caught with head of a child in Netrokona who given mas thrashing, sparking the rumour swiftly across the nation. As a result, a gruesome mass beating was occurred in the capital’s Uttar Badda, leaving a woman, Taslima Begum, dead on the spot. On the very fateful day, two youths were also lynched in Tanore of Rajshahi. A youth was also handed over to police after giving a good thrashing at Gouripur upazila in Mymensingh.

Till Tuesday, at least 10 people were killed in mass beating and more than 50 were injured since the rumour spread across the country, according to media reports.
