Number of dengue patients declines

Staff Correspondent: A total of 1200 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across Bangladesh in the 24 hours to 8am on Tuesday, 893 down from recorded in previous 24 hours, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In Dhaka, the number of dengue patients admitted to hospitals was 599 and the figure was 601 outside the capital in the 24 hours to 8am on Tuesday.

In the previous 24 hours, the number was 842 in Dhaka and 1,251 outside the capital.

The DGHS estimated that from the beginning of the year until now, 44,471 people infected with the disease were admitted to different hospitals. Of them, 36, 884 made recovery. At present, at least 7, 547 patients are receiving treatment at different hospitals in the country.   

The government has confirmed 40 deaths from dengue so far.
