Number of dengue patients decreasing: Health minister

Staff Correspondent: Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque has claimed that the number of patients being infected with dengue fever is coming down across the country.

The minister said this while visiting dengue patients at Kurmitola General Hospital in the city on Tuesday.

In 24 hours, from 8.00am on August 12 to 8.00am on August 13, at least 1200 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country. The figure for the same duration were 2093 on the day before.

At least 40 people died of dengue fever so far, he said.

A social movement has begun across the country to build awareness against dengue fever, and hence the number of patients being infected with the disease is decreasing and overall situation of the outbreak has also improved, the minister said.
