A youth was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with the elite force RAB in capital’s Malibagh area early Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Iqbal Hossain, 30.
Iqbal’s wife and a brother-in-law were also injured in the gunfight.
RAB claimed that Iqbal was a drug trader.
According to the RAB, a large consignment of Yaba pills came to Malibagh from Cox's Bazar by bus, and Yaba pills were being uploaded to a microbus.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB-2 conducted a drive there and sensing the presence of law enforcers, drug traders opened fire at the RAB members forcing them to fire back that triggered a gunfight.
Iqbal Hossain was rescued with bullet injury and he was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where duty doctors declared him dead.
