One killed in city road accident

A person was killed as a speeding vehicle hit him while crossing road in Motijheel area of the capital.

The accident took place at Shapla Chattar around 11:45pm on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Masud, 30, son of Ishak Mridha. He was the resident of Baufal upazila of Patuakhali district.

Bappi, a passer-by, said, "A speeding vehicle hit Masud while crossing road at Shapla Chattar. He fell to the ground at once. Later, I along with some people rushed him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where duty doctors declared him dead at 12:30am."

Inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of the hospital's police outpost, confirmed the matter saying that the body was kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy.
