Over 4000 cattle affected by LSD in Faridpur

More than 4,000 cows in Faridpur have been affected by lumpy skin disease (LSD), triggering panic among farmers.

Faridpur district Animal Resources Development sources said, a meeting took place to discuss about the LSD prevention as the disease affected the district recently.

A total of 4,195 cows are suffering from the disease in nine upazilas of the district. Already ten cows have been died in the disease.

Veterinary Dr. Nurullah Md Ahsan said, cows were being infected in last three months. The situation is under controlled now. Cattle farmers were given training in this regard.

The affected cows do not want to eat or drink anything and do not produce milk. Other symptoms of the disease are chronic debility, poor growth, infertility, abortion, and sometimes death.

Dirty places, dirty food pots even insects spread the disease, Dr Nurullah Md Ahsan said.
