PK Halder: Passport seizing order upheld

The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court has upheld a High Court order that directed authorities concerned to freeze bank accounts and seize passports of 20 persons, including Prashant Kumar Halder alias PK Halder.

PK Halder was former managing director of NRB Global Bank and Reliance Finance Ltd.

A bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain passed the order on Wednesday.

The other 19 accused are-MA Hashem, M Nurul Alam, Md Zahirul Alam, Nasim Anwar, Bashudeb Banerjee, Papia Banerjee, Momtaz Begum, Md Nowsherul Islam, Md Anwarul Kabir, Engr Md Nuruzzaman, Md Abul Hashem, Rashedul Haque, PK Halder’s mother Lilaboti Halder, brother Pritish Kumar Halder, wife Susmita Saha, cousins Amitav Adhikari, Abhijit Adhikari, Erfanuddin Ahmed and Uzzal Kumar Nandi.

Earlier, the High Court ordered authorities concerned to freeze bank accounts and to seize passports of 20 persons.
