PM asks party men to stand by people

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has asked leaders and activists of ruling Awami League and its associate bodies to stand by people in coastal areas to face the cyclonic storm ‘Amphan’.

After instructions issued by AL president, central leaders in charge contacted leaders and activists of the party and gave them directives necessary.

They met at AL president’s Dhanmondi political office on Wednesday and made phone calls to the party men of different districts and issued directives.

The directives include: Helping people to move to cyclone centres quickly, assisting local administration to ensure social distance and maintain health regulations at the shelters.

Besides, they were also asked to reach coastal areas’ people food assistance and to ensure treatment during the disaster moment.

Awami League presidium member Jahangir Kabir Nanak said all-out preparations have been taken to face the cyclone Amphan as PM Sheikh Hasina issued instructions. Monitoring has been increased in all coastal areas. PM issued instructions to party men to work there.

He said leaders and activists of Awami League and its associate bodies will provide assistance to people of coastal areas. We along with people will face the natural disaster. Awami League was beside people during all disasters in the past and will remain in future.
