PM hosts iftar for political leaders

Dhaka, Aug 1: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday hosted an Iftar for the leaders of different political organisations at her official Ganobhaban residence.

Prime Minister`s son Sajeeb Wazed Joy and his wife Kristine Overmire were present on the occasion.

The Prime Minister went round different tables set for the guests, exchanged pleasantries with them and enquired about their well-being.
 
Before the iftar, a special munajat was offered seeking continued peace, progress and prosperity of the nation.
 
Prayers were also offered seeking eternal peace for the departed souls of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Bangamata Fazilatunnesa Mujib and other martyrs of the August 15 massacre, four national leaders, martyrs of the War of Liberation and heroes of democratic movements.
 
Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, Deputy Leader of Parliament Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury, Cabinet members, Advisors to the Prime Minister, senior leaders of Awami League including Amir Hossain Amu, Tofael Ahmed, and Awami League general secretary and LGRD & Cooperatives Minister Syed Ashraful Islam attended the Ifter.
 
Besides, Jatiya Party chairman HM Ershad and secretary general ABM Ruhul Amin Hawlader, Workers Party president Rashed Khan Menon, Industries Minister and general secretary of Samyabadi Dal Dilip Barua, CPB president Mujahidul Islam Selim, Jatiya Party-JP chairman Anwar Hossain Manju and Islami Okya Jote chairman Misbahur Rahman Chowdhury also joined the Iftar.
