PM urges judges to ensure justice

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday urged the judges to ensure the rule of law.

The premier made the call while addressing a conference titled ‘Justice for
Peace and Development’ at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) in the capital.

She said, “I don't want anyone to wait [for justice] while bearing the pain of the loss of loved ones for years like I have.”

Sheikh Hasina said, “After the murder of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibar Rahman, killers were awarded. Killer was nominated for the post of President. Murderers were supported in many ways. Indemnity ordinance was issued to stop justice of the killing. We had no option to get justice.”

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister highlighted the verdict on the grisly murder of madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi in Feni and said the people's faith in the judiciary has grown in light of its swift handling of these cases.

Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain presided over the program where Law Minister Anisul Haq, Supreme Court registrar general Md Ali Akbar spoke on the occasion.
