PM visits ailing actor Anwar Hossain

DHAKA, Sept 12: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday gave a cheque for Tk 10 lakh for treatment of ailing Anwar Hossain, a legendary actor of Bangla cinema, now undergoing treatment in city`s Square Hospital.

The Prime Minister went to the hospital Thursday afternoon to see for herself the health condition of the actor and handed over the cheque to his relatives.

Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu, PM`s Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad and Managing Director of Film Development Corporation (FDC) Pijush Bandapaddhaya were present at that time.

The Prime Minister, who is bearing the treatment cost of the legendary actor provided Tk 5 lakh after Anwar Hossain admission to
the hospital.

Anwar Hossain acted in more than 500 films. However, after playing the key role in the movie `Nawab Sirajuddoula` he became Bengali cinema`s `Crownless Emperor`.
