Police alert to prevent extortion: Home Minister

Senior Correspondent: Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said that police are already alert to prevent extortion from cattle laden transports. Even though if someone commits such crime, stern actions will be taken against him.

The Minister said this after launching free dengue test activities at Deen Mohammad Hospital in the capital’s Dhanmondi on Monday.

Kamal said, “Allegations of extortion are very much old. So, law enforcers have already been instructed in this regard from earlier. They were asked to remain alert so that no incident of extortion happens not only in the capital, but also across the country.”

“Along with station cops, highway police have also been instructed to ensure hassle free cattle sale for the traders. If someone becomes victim of extortion, file allegation. Steps will be taken after investigation,” he added.

In reply to a query, nobody will be spared if anyone is found involved in collecting extortion. Those would be found involved in collecting extortion will be brought to the law, no matter who they are.
