Police seek 5-day remand for that landlord

Police prayed five days remand for landlord Nur Akhter Shampa in a case filed for ousting her tenants (a family of five) who were unable to pay a month’s rent amid the coronavirus lockdown.

Sub-inspector of Kalabagan Police Station Saidur Rahman, also the investigation officer of the case, filed the petition to Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Wednesday (April 22).

Prior to this, Shampa was produced before the court around 12 pm.

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) yesterday arrested the house owner for allegedly ousting her tenants who were unable to pay a month’s rent amid the coronavirus lockdown.

Shampa was arrested from Dhanmondi area in the evening.

Later, she was handed over to Kalabagan police station.

Earlier, the tenants' family had filed a case against Shampa at the Kalabagan police station.

On Sunday (April 19) night, Shampa threw out the family of five including a two month old child, as they were unable to pay only one month’s rent.
