Police have recovered footages of Close Circuit (CC) cameras to investigate into Dhaka University (DU) student rape incident.
Now, they are trying to identify the rapist examining the footage.
When asked, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sudip Kumar Chakraborty told risingbd that the spot where the girl was violated is a remote area and filled with different types of trees. So, there was no CC camera set up at the exact spot. However, footages of Kurmitola bus stand and Golf Club areas were recovered.
“Though the footages are not very clear as these were filmed from so far. But we are trying to identify the real culprit through scrutinizing the footages,” he added.
It was learnt that law enforcement agencies are investigating into the incident with much importance from the very beginning. The responsibility of the case was handed over to Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
Meanwhile, a team of DB (north) collected evidences from the spot. But nobody has yet been arrested over the incident.
The second-year student of Dhaka University was raped and tortured in Kurmitola on Sunday night.
