Police-workers clash leaves OC injured

Senior Correspondent: Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Hatirjheel Police Station sustained injuries when garment workers and police locked into clash at the capital’s Rampura Thursday.

A garment worker was lynched to death on suspicion of being thief at Rampura area. Hearing the news, the victim’s colleagues and workers of nearby other garment workers took the street and blocked the road in protest of the incident on since Thursday noon.

Police charged batons on them to remove from the road. Law enforcers also fired blank shots to keep the situation under control. Then, the two sides locked into a clash, leaving two cops injured including Hatirjheel Police Station OC.

Tension was prevailing in the area till the report was filed in the evening.
