Polling agent killed in clash

A polling agent was killed and five others injured as two local councillor candidates locked into a clash in Lalmatia area of the capital yesterday night following the publication of results of Dhaka city corporation elections.

The deceased was Sumon Sikdar, 25, agent of Awami League councillor candidate (ward no. 32).

Confirming the matter, Md Wahiduzzaman, additional deputy commissioner of Tejgaon division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, said the body was sent to Suhrawardi Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Sumon Sikdar was the son of Anwar Ahmed Sikdar and a resident of Lalmatia (F block).
